Learning as much Dominican slang as possible before I retire out there… It looks like a paradise 🏝️ So far there’s only been one Dominican on the podcast but I’m sure there will be many more!

VAINA

A very common term which can mean a lot of things… But simply translated to ‘thing’.

Pásame esa vaina.
Pass me that thing.

¿Qué lo qué?

This phrase doesn’t really make sense but simply translates to ‘What’s up?’

Dato curioso: An abbreviation over text is ‘KLK’.

MANIN

Frequently used in The Dominican Republic between close friends. It means ‘mate’ or ‘dude’.

¿Qué lo qué manin?
What’s up man?
