Colombia is next on my travel list. In the meantime I’ve been collating slang from the Colombian@s I know in Londres.

CHÉVERE

Pronounced ‘cheh’ — ‘beh’ — ‘reh’

Means cool

¿Te vas a Colombia? ¡Chévere!
You’re going to Colombia? Cool!

PARCERO/A

Used to refer to a ‘friend’

Sometimes use ‘parce’

¿Qué pasa parcero?
What’s up mate?

GUAYABO

Pronounced ‘gwah’ — ‘yah’ — ‘boh’

Translates to ‘hangover’

Tengo un guayabo que me mata.
I have a hangover that’s killing me.

DARSE UN VOLTIO

Apparently this is a very Colombian phrase according to my friend Alex.

It is equivalent to ‘dar un paseo’ which means ‘to go for a walk’🚶‍♀️

Vamos are darnos un voltio.
We are going for a walk.
